Hello my name is Cherrelle Williams, I am a 31 year old single mom of 3 from Bartlesville, OK. Building Bridges has been my highlight of 2022 until where I am now.
I first heard about Building Bridges from Habitat for Humanity. They let me know I would need to take some classes through Building Bridges to gain hours toward getting my forever home.
My first class I started at Building Bridges was a healthy eating class, cooking class, and budgeting for groceries with two wonderful women, Amber and Lauren. In this class I learned the value of eating meals at the dinner table with my children with the proper portions we should be eating. I learned how to make bread. After providing us with the recipe, I was able to share the experience with my children and make our own bread. They also taught us different ways to budget while grocery shopping.
The next class I took was a Financial class with Corrie. This class was right up my alley because I was looking for ways to save and get out of debt. Corrie gave us great strategies and information to keep us from falling into deeper debt. She gave me hope that poverty is not where I have to be if I learn to manage my money. With these classes I was able to budget and pay off all my credit card debts, I was able to save up for my closing cost for my home, and I learned how to save for future expenses.
Building Bridges was not just a place for us adults, but they have classes with activities for our children as well. I can't tell you how excited my little ones were when they knew it was Thursday because they looked forward to going to class at Building Bridges. They have taught my children about healthy dental care and plenty of other fun activities.
But what I enjoy most about Building Bridges is that everyone is like family and you never feel excluded because they go above and beyond to make the atmosphere of this program inviting to everyone who walks in.
Building Bridges will forever be my second family ❤️
